Welcome to Keystone Advisory Council's financial literacy lesson. Money skills are not about shame or perfection. They are about building a plan that helps you make better decisions with the money, time, and choices you actually have.
A budget is a plan for income, expenses, savings, debt, and goals. Start with what is coming in, then protect the essentials first: housing, food, utilities, transportation, health, and required obligations. After that, decide what can flex.
An emergency cushion does not have to start big. Even a small amount can keep a flat tire, missed work hour, or surprise bill from becoming new debt. The habit matters first; the amount can grow over time.
Credit reports show your borrowing history. Credit scores are influenced by things like payment history, balances, length of history, new applications, and the mix of accounts. A powerful first step is to check reports, correct errors, pay on time, and lower balance pressure where possible.
Debt planning starts by naming the debt, minimum payment, interest, due date, and consequence of missing a payment. The goal is to choose a strategy before stress chooses one for you.
Today, choose one 30-day action. Make it specific, realistic, and connected to a date. Progress is built by repeating small decisions that protect stability and open the next door.
Post-Test
Answer the same questions after the lesson. The goal is growth, not perfection.
